Holiday Spending Traps

As we approach another holiday, be mindful of overconsumption.

Check out these tips!

  1. Having family over? Set a food budget and stick to it. Research budget friendly dishes for large gatherings. Tuna salad anyone? Don’t be shy about asking ppl to chip in by bringing a dish or beverages over. If food runs out tell ppl to show up on time lol.

  2. These sales aren’t really sales. Stores raise prices weeks before the holiday as a result the advertised price cuts are not what they claim to be.

  3. Fashionista? Want to get a new outfit? It’s not necessary. Shop your closet. Check your ego. Your loved ones will be happy to see you regardless.

  4. Plan ahead for holidays. The next one is June 19th. you will be surprised what you can accumulate/plan between now and then when it’s top of mind. **Long term thinking** If possible invest in an extra freezer to store leftovers and meats when there actually on sale.

5. Consider your options being an attendee verses hosting. As an attendee, you can volunteer to help set up or clean up afterwards for free. As a host, reconsider the number of people you have over.

Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and as always thanks for reading.
